Prima steps in to support smiles at the Commonwealth Games

Gloucestershire’s Prima Dental Group was proud to support the 2022 Commonwealth Games by donating equipment as part of the free dental service for athletes.

The Quedgeley based dental instrument manufacturer donated equipment required for the services offered at the three dental community services clinics located in the athlete villages in Commonwealth Games Birmingham, Warwick and at the NEC.

The dental services predicted to see around 300 patients, but more than 1,000 visited over the duration of the Games. The dental clinics were manned by volunteers. Besides the dental services, oral health stations organized by the University of Birmingham staff and students from the School of Dentistry completed the set-up to offer oral health advice.

“It was great to be able to support the Games in this way and see our products put through their paces in a different sense!” commented Alun Jones, Group Managing Director, Prima Dental Group.

“The wonderful work that the volunteers did in helping athletes was inspiring. Their enthusiasm and commitment encapsulated the spirit of the Games – bringing that amazing buzz to Birmingham. We’re proud to have been able to support the dentistry volunteers in delivering this service.”
