Cell Leader Role

Role Purpose

 To ensure the manufacturing cell achieves the required level of output in line with laid down production targets and the company’s overalls goals for the delivery of cost effective, high quality products and excellent customer service.

Effectively manage teams for maximum output.

Key Objectives

  2. People – Manage, train and lead your team to ensure that Prima Dental has the best people through talent recognition, development, praise and progression
  3. Quality – Produce world class quality, first time and every time by following the Prima quality management system, procedures and controls
  4. Efficiency – Minimise down time in key manufacturing areas to increase efficiency to give higher output
  5. Cost – Control spend through labour planning, labour management, controlling consumable usage and upskilling your team to allow flexibility and stability

 

People Management

  • Manages compliance with Prima Dental Group Employee Handbook and all policies, procedures and work instructions
  • To support and conduct all relevant employee relations meetings to include investigation, disciplinary and grievance
  • Actively manage all employee performance ensuring that good performance is recognised and poor performance is managed
  • Supports your team in the delegating of workload, be flexible and reactive when managing breaks, absence and supervising the activities of the day to day operational needs of the business
  • Manages attendance and controls absence including the cover thereof based on priority, flow and WIP, ensuring all required documentation is completed, including; absence notifications, RTW (return to works), absence review meetings and Bradford Factor meetings are completed in a timely manner, collaborating with The People Team
  • Plays an active part in ensuring the cascade of information to relevant direct reports and that information is consistent, accurate and timely utilising such media as e-mail, verbal communication
  • Ensure that your team are fully trained and compliant in HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) process and procedures, signed off and aware of all the relevant RAs and WIs and know how they can access them and signed of as competent to operate the required equipment
  • Plans and supports recruitment, selection and induction needs for your team and support other teams where required
  • Ensures employees’ roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and understood in order to manage expectations and accountability at all levels
  • Ensures the team are skilled to deliver and achieve production goals on time and in full, delivering individual training plans with succession in mind and manage resources to flex and adapt to cover requirements within your team
  • Carries out regular/time defined employee appraisals, with your team members and support their growth and development needs
  • Regularly engage with your team members for innovation and idea generation to improve the day to day process. Supporting the identification, selection and delivery of agreed improvements from your team within the prescribed timescales and maintain the upkeep of project status and ensure your team are always up to date with progress and developments
  • Employee engagement – empowerment to improve morale, job satisfaction through active engagement, support, listening and resolution of issues
  • Actively supports and promotes your own personal development by attending coaching and mentoring sessions and be aware at all times of your development areas and agreed improvements
  • Collaborates and works across the value chain supporting and optimising the wider needs of the business when required

Decisions Made

 All decision-making must be guided by Health and Safety first

  • Decisions must be made using clear information or data concerning the potential challenge
  • Makes decisions as part of a team and individually during normal and pressure situations and be competent to use knowledge, experience, the team and data to ensure that the decisions are the correct ones

Financial Responsibility

  • Understands the operational costs of the site and to identify and implement opportunities to improve manufacturing variances
  • Controls Manufacturing Consumable usage and tracking following the set procedures and ensure all items are booked out and logged correctly, raise any concerns with usage or stock levels immediately to prevent any shortage of vital items
  • Provides the support required for any cost management initiative in the business such as changes in blanks or materials, changes in flow and WIP control

Role Context

The job holder must be able to work methodically in order to schedule resources and activities to meet specified plans within agreed timescales

 

Knowledge and Skills

IOSH Managing Safety Qualification

CMI/ILM Level 3 or equivalent leadership qualification

First Aid

Risk Assessment, COSHH and Permit To Work

Fire Marshall

Fluency in written and spoken English

Proven managerial experience in a Manufacturing environment, developing and managing a successful team and engaging the workforce, with a track record of delivering against KPI’s

Manufacturing Techniques and Experience in Problem Solving (Lean and CI)

Lean Sigma White Belt

Competency in Microsoft Office and computer literacy

Strong communication skills

People/Team Development
