Leading dental manufacturer Prima Dental has won the ‘Export Award’ in the Gloucestershire Business Awards 2015 in recognition of its substantial and sustained increase in export activity.

Organised by leading regional publishers Gloucestershire Media, the prestigious awards seek to celebrate excellence and achievement in business across Gloucestershire. The Award scheme, now in its eighteenth year, is one of the biggest award events of its kind run by any regional newspaper group in the UK.

Richard Muller, group managing director at Gloucester-based Prima Dental, commented on the award win: “It is fantastic to win this prestigious business award and be recognised for our continued growth and export success.

“These regional awards play a vital role in highlighting and celebrating the talent and innovation across Gloucestershire and we are obviously thrilled to be part of the success story. The ‘Export Award’ pays tribute to the quality and expertise of the whole team here at Prima Dental.”

Hundreds of guests from across the region’s business community gathered at the special gala awards ceremony on 1 October at The Centaur at Cheltenham Racecourse to celebrate the awards. BBC reporters and presenters Claire Carter and Steve Knibbs introduced the award winners.

Sarah Pullen, managing director of Local World Gloucestershire, publishers of Gloucestershire Echo and Gloucester Citizen, said: “Yet again we have had a record entry for this year’s Business Awards, which are now in their eighteenth year and going from strength to strength.  The judges had a very difficult task and the standards have been very high.”

This win for the Prima Dental team follows on from its recent success in the South West Business Insider International Trade Awards 2015 when the company won the ‘International Company of the Year’.  Prima Dental was also named ‘Exporter of the Year’ at the inaugural Cotswold Life Engineering, Manufacturing and Innovation Awards 2015, held in September.

A winner of a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2014, Prima Dental supplies over 90 countries with growing markets in the USA, Europe, Asia-Pacific and South America.

This latest award win for Prima Dental coincides with the opening of a factory in Brazil for its new joint venture company Angelus Prima Dental Ltda. Operating the same Swiss-manufactured technology used at Prima Dental’s UK base in Gloucester, Angelus Prima Dental Ltda will produce dental burs for the local Brazilian market as well as for markets across South America.
